In that sense, this has been one of the most on-track threads I've seen for a long time. His Tyrannical Excellency and his petty overstepping was the topic ... wasn't it?
I was referring to the track the thread almost took. I appreciate the humor of the lunacy behind the OP

Ah ... the "abortive" attempts. Yeah, well. As Forrest Gump's momma would say: Life's a box o' choc-lits. You never know what you're gonna git."

I really don't blame Bloomberg and tell you why. Many New Yorkers put him in that position to begin with, and when good old election time rolls around, what do they do? Put him right back and then moan about and protest what he does. That is the problem here, not the banning of huge soft drinks for their "protection."

I believe the phrase "insanity : Repeating the same thing but expecting different results" applies in this case.

Anyone else surprised that they didn't enact some kind of a special tax targeting large drinks?

Maybe they realized the dollars that would be generated by the tax will soon be worthless...

Whereas getting it's citizens more acclimated to nanny-state mentality is priceless!

Remember when they regulated the size of the toilet tanks in order to conserve water? The toilets wouldn't flush correctly with that small volume of water so people started flushing their toilets two and three times and ended up using even more water than before.

People will figure out ways around this. They always do.
