Mayor nannyberg continues the fight to protect us from ourselves. No more will restaurants, theaters and eateries be allowed to tempt people with those lethal drinks larger than 16 ounces.

The "empire" has continued its quest to take full control of everyone's life in the name of "helping us."

I would prefer a law that says if your illness was caused by your own self-destructive behavior, you have to pay for your healthcare. But that would require people to act like adults, and God knows you can't pass those kinds of "unfair" laws in the United States! Better to take away personal liberty instead.

Bloomy's going to be apoplectic when he finds out about CamelBak and similar uber-slurp drinking "backpacks." 4L capacity, for the on-the-go hydroholic. Can't be having that, now can we.

"The rule wouldn't apply to ... diet soda, or to alcoholic beverages ... " - yeah, that makes total sense; diet soda is worse for people than regular and alcohol is loaded with calories.

They want to limit them to 16 oz vs the 20 oz normally served - what's to stop them from buying another one, increasing the total to 32 oz.

Hmmm, if people wind up buying a 2nd drink, that increases revenue and taxes and the legislation doesn't affect current liquor revenue at bars or restaurants.

Yes sir...I'll have the no. 1, large, with 3 diet cokes. Yes, that's 3 diets.;)

They will go after the grocery store loophole next and with that the face to face sales of large caliber drinks.

EDIT: In all seriousness what do people expect. People demand our Government pay for health-care costs but then seem surprised when they place restrictions on our freedom in an effort to keep those costs down. I have always felt that Government supplied health care is the greatest danger to our personal freedom. We accepted seat belts, constant pushes for helmet laws for bikers and many other restrictions. All in the name of reducing the costs of that 'free' health care.
Are folks finally realizing that this 'free' service they have demanded comes with not only a cost paid with taxes, but also a cost paid for with loss of freedom?
