God Bless Bailey Colorado and the soul of the innocent victim

As a former Bailey resident, I am devistated by the news of todays school shooting, and I pray for God to bless the soul of the innocent young victim. As the day goes on, it brings back the memory of the Columbine shooting in 1999, which is just down the street from me. I was in work on that day, when they came around asking if any of the employees had children in the school. The memories of that day are to tough to remember, and this insane act of violence adds salt to an old wound. God Bless the soul of the innocent young victim. I am truly devistated.

Yes, it's sad to hear about this meaningless attack.

I join you in your prayers.

Me too - I have gleaned snippets of news since it started - and it is tragic the student died.

I dread these events for so many reasons. Sad to say we have some severely maladjusted people in our midst.

I pray for her soul, also and her family. So senseless.

Have there been any updates as to the motive?? Last I had heard, they had no idea why the incident occured at all... It's so sad that our society has the capacity to act in this manner at all. My prayers are with all that were involved and for our unborn children and grandchildren, the decline seems to get steeper and steeper every day.

My prayers go out for those involved. So much senseless stuff seems to happen these days. As if just getting on with things isn't challenging enough.

Yeah, that would do it. Anti's ... and ostrich's best friend.

The death penalty exists for a good reason. It's the one thing that certain criminals understand. It's the one thing appropriate for certain crimes. This thug now has the opportunity to explain himself to the man upstairs. May the memory of this guy rot, for his having caused such misery in the lives of so many.

There really is no evidence that the death penalty is "understood" by criminals or deters anyone. Very few criminals know what the penalty might be for an act beforehand, or care. If not suicidal they do consider the chance of getting caught, otherwise you have to hope the feel-good crowd does their job by spotting the problem and helping the person. Too late after the fact.

The death penalty just makes part of the population feel better but has no effect on crime. The next nut will simply do it again.

So long as it's not actually applied, perps get out to do it again. Agreed. As-implemented, it's merely a salve. A bad one at that.

This one? Death sentence by his own hand. It's the proper penalty. Were he to have been taken alive? It's the proper penalty, still. Of course, the hand-wringing would start immediately and it wouldn't actually be applied. We, as a society, are worse for it, IMO.

Not only does it make me feel better, it keeps the criminal from repeating their actions.

There is nothing wrong with part of the population feeling 'good'!

    It DOES prevent repeaters...

Don't have to make any difficult parole decisions.

Taxpayers save money on canceled room and board...save money on the cable cancelation too!

To keep in 'fair and balanced' though... the electric bill does go up a little on the last month's bill!

    Sounds great to me...
