The Last Resort? Rogue Navy Sub?
I watched the premier of a new show last night called "The Last Resort". It seemed ...interesting. I may watch the next episode to see if they can hook me. I'm not quite fully hooked yet. Here's the plot courtesy of wikipedia:
Last Resort (U.S. TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The show is about the renegade crew of a United States Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, the fictional USS Colorado (SSBN-753), that receives an order to launch nuclear missiles at Pakistan, through a backup communications channel. When Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) asks for confirmation via official channels, he is relieved of command. His second in command, Lt. Commander Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman), also questions the orders and the vessel is fired upon by the USS Illinois, killing crew members of the Colorado.
Realizing that they have been declared enemies of their own country, they set up camp on the island of Sainte Marina (a fictional French island located in the Indian Ocean), commandeer a NATO communications facility, and declare a 200 mile exclusion zone around the island. When B-1 Lancer bombers are sent to attack the submarine, Captain Chaplin launches a nuclear missile towards the US to impress upon them that he is serious.[2]
At the same time, the crew must find a way to prove their innocence and find out who set them up so that they can return home.[3]

I wasn't too overly enthused with it...
I like Military movies, but the shows just never seem that appealing.

I didn't give it a chance as a former submariner I think it would've made my head explode.

You have to take shows for what they are....entertainment. I watched the Unit was cracking up the whole time. Wife made me watch Army Wives..just as stupid but entertaining.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

I think it would be an interesting movie.. but a tv show?!?! I think it will end up just dragging on and on and on and on and on and on and on.. and I'm already bored.
JD and I watched it last night in hopes it would captivate us and .. like I said.. we're already bored.
Maybe even if it were a mini series or something.

It was hard for me to watch. Too much BS too fast and way out of touch with real world... Drinking on board a nuc? ability to stop a missile launch (fail safe, no can do), wearing shades, bombers in bound 15 mis away and they were able to get back to the sub from a NATO radio station AND contact the people that sent them in that 15 mins... Plus the fact that they were able to target an area between NY and WASH and have the missile hit the water so it was visible to both NY and DC? Really??? A lot more, but maybe its because I know too much? Oh and they get attacked by a harpoon missile that can penetrate water before going off? Way too much...
As far as entertaining... I suppose it can be... Nice looking tail anyway... I do like how they all had semi-automatics on them...

Wrong! It's not real until you see it on the internet.

I don't even have a TV in my house anymore. It was all reruns or reality shows and the news is so liberal sided.
Some people will start trouble and then try to make it look like its your fault....

Well, I did watch the entire episode. I like Andre Braugher and wanted to see him. The whole show was hokey. You would think writers could do much better. Shame.

The whole premise is ridiculous. Couldn't make myself watch.
