    Where did it come from?

Scenario, you are a passenger in a car driving by a group of "mil parks" standing on a sidewalk. You are to fire as many rounds as possible as fast as possible. Holding the pistol "gangsta", you find that the pistol recoils in the direction the car is moving. Horizontally rather than vertically, actually it's more of an angle. If the "mil parks" could shoot back you might want to get as low in the seat as possible or even on the floorboard, i.e. the pistol being held higher than the head.

Sometimes things that work on a sterile square range have to be changed when they are taken out into the world where the "mil parks" shoot back.

I liked how the instructor acted so serious. Throwing bullets and insults! Too funny.

Flash sight picture, maybe. Just my opinion and observations. Getting any kind of sight picture seems to rarely happen in real life, watch almost any gunfight vid. Whether trained or untrained the majority of the time the pistol is brought to about eye level, or a little below and fired. Of course, there are always exceptions.

The brain focuses on the threat and the eyes are drawn to the threat. Loosing sight of the threat by concentrating on the pistol sights is in direct opposition to what our brain wants us to do.

After the first fight in a FOF class one the most asked question by the instructor is "did you see your sights". The answer most given is "what sights". From talking with other students it seems to have little to do with the amount of training. Provided the cover garment is cleared and safeties aren't missed or the pistol dropped, everyone, regardless of training does pretty much the same thing.

Cover and longer distances from the attacker allows for a greater opportunity to use the sights.
