TX man in hot water for dove dinner
One more example that we are officially stupid in this country...
A dove flies against a man's house and dies. He makes dinner, posts it on his blog, and now may be in trouble with the law.

I am sure he should get the death penalty for this heinous breach of the peace!

Yet another affirmation that one should not publicize their life. There are so many laws, that there is a good chance that everyone is breaking one at some point or another.

They should really confiscate his house as an illegal weapon used in the poaching of a poor defenseless game bird.

Update October 12, 2012 – Captain Scott Jurk, a Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden, says, “Texas Parks and Wildlife will not be pursuing any charges against Ryan Adams in this case.”

Texas IMO is a pseudo nanny state. Guess compared to NH most places are. We have doves fly into our window all the time. If one breaks its neck I guess I will use up taxpayer resources and have a game warden come by to take the carcass.

Guess you can't pick up roadkill either? Glad I never posted my recipe for split-turtle soup on Facebook...
As we used to teach in the spook business, carry a 25 if it makes you feel good, but do not ever load it. If you load it you may shoot it. If you shoot it you may hit somebody, and if you hit somebody - and he finds out about it - he may be very angry with you. -- Jeff Cooper

I'm trying to figure out why anyone would even mess with just 1 dove. Not even enough for an appetizer, let alone a meal.

Some places you can't. Last time I checked, in MT you can't take any part of an animal that died of anything other than natural causes, unless you have a tag for it. Still ticks me off when I'm driving down the road and see a big buck laying on the side of the highway. I could have made a lot of nice antler mounts over the years....

Sensible solution. Nice, for a change.

Anyone with common sense can tell this is stupid. I understand they create certain definitions within a law so we don't use loopholes for our own gain. But I think that sometimes LE becomes so engrossed with enforcement they lose sight of what the law was actually enacted to accomplish in the first place. I'm just glad they dismissed it.

Absolutely correct. Excellent advice.

"flew into his house and died" more than likely means he was "testing out his new 12ga"
Still, as WHEC stated, making every silly detail of your life public is rarely a good idea. There are plenty of laws you probably dont even know about.
If the bird actually flew into his house and died, its better he eat it than let the neighbors cat bring it home. It would suck if the bird died like that and he gets charged. Not saying I would eat it though. Thats what store bought chicken breast is for.

My neighbors just mentioned to me that all of the local squirrels seemed to have declined in numbers. LOL
What ever you do, do it sliently!
Note to Mods - this is legal, as long as a firearm is not discharged.

I wonder what governor good hair would think about that remark.
