A beautiful day, and table fare!
All of this talk about hunting made me feel the need to get out and enjoy the evening. Not quite the dangerous big game we have been talking about, but I think the wiley squirrel was a worthy quarry. And the Henry lever gun held its own.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

Time to whip out the ol' recipe for squirrel stew. With the possum fritters, it oughta be a good meal. Mmmmm.
Nice looking Henry. Hard not to like those.

Hmm...I used to shoot those things with a mere pellet gun. Times have changed.

Oh, and excellent shot placement, too

Looks like a fat little guy. Kind of funny you posted that. I haven't had a grip of squirrels in some years and was thinking that Saturday might be a day to break out the 22 bull pup. And a better recipe than my Uncle Junior used to whip up. Man I could tired of a pot of boiled squirrel with a tater and a carrot waved over the pot. By day 3 in camp I was ripping the lid off a can of Spam.
What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's all about?

Good shot Gman.
Those Henry's are handy little plinkers.

I'm waiting to take my oldest (5 ) squirrel hunting. We were suppose to go last weekend but he got on "yellow" at school and then he couldn't go.
I am letting him use my Winchester rifle and I'm going to try to get some with my Ruger Gov't MKII with a 10" bull barrel

I just trapped 7-8 of the little rats and hauled them away for chewing on the eaves of my house. Should have just placed a call to the Glockman10mm!

Nice Gman. Being in the woods this time of year is pure joy. The fall is my favorite time of year.

The boy and I were out enjoying the evening too.
Except all he shot were tin cans. I don't think I'm gonna eat those.

Nice shot. I could have probably gotten a few this evening. But I was waiting on something larger that never showed up. My local grey fox made an appearance too. It's a good time to be in the woods.
