In my area you seldom see a deer killed near a deer crossing sign. I have always been under the impression that our deer cannot read and that the signs are a complete waste of taxpayers money. I mean if they can't read why post the signs?

It like those sings you used to see along the highways.

Who comes up with these signs? Sheesh!

I remember reading a letter to the editor awhile back that was a long the same lines. Apparently those signs weren't in a very safe place for the deer to cross.

It must be deer season here again. A mob of flatlanders in camo buying booze in town over the weekend, and plenty of deer and turkeys lurking behind my place. Like Ron White says, slow those bullets down to 55 Mph and put little headlights on 'em.

They are all over our property during deer season, as we don't allow deer hunting there. They start showing up about the time the season starts.... and stay there. I can literally walk up to within 15 - 30 yrds of them all of the time. About the time the deer season is over, they seem to disappear again.
They aren't that stupid. They must also have a built in calendar.

Eagleks, you could make a killing on a deer lease, especially if the hunters use suppressors.

As far as seeing road kill deer, most continue to run or crawl to cover before they die. I helped dispatch one that had compound fractures on both left legs and managed to crawl 40 yds, 1/2 uphill (no, it wasn't both ways ).
