    My son's first firearm

My son is turning 14 and we went and got him a Remington 597 .22 semi-auto with a scope. We went to the range Tuesday night and he had a blast. It was cool as he hasn't been real excited when going out but sort of so, so. But he is excited now, now that it is his own and he really likes it.

And his first ever shots with it. It was even better later when we got it sighted in.

Nice first gun.... Nothing says it more than "This Is All Mine". Especially when one is 14. Tell him happy shooting......

Lucky boy! I love seeing Dad's do things like this with their sons. I bet he'll have happy memories of this occasion for the rest of his life.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

    Good work, dad!

Now go find an Appleseed Event in your area, and turn your boy (and you!) into Riflemen!

That is a great 22 rifle. I have 2 of them and mine are tack drivers. My dad gave me my first gun...a Stevens 16 gauge side by side. Long time ago. I just gave my 17 year old daughter her first rifle. My 16 gauge pump. She also has a 22 rifle semi and when she turns 18 she will be getting a Walther P22 semi. That is what she wants. She understands that the sole purpose of a firearm is not for causing harm to humans despite the best efforts of the liberals around us! I have told her to practice loading the 16 gauge snap caps and that she has my full permission to load live rounds if mom and I are not home and someone tries to break into the house. She also understands not to keep live ammunition in the shotgun unless she needs it. She would have plenty of time to load it...and oh yes...she knows how to shoot a shotgun, 30-30, 22lr, 40cal pistol, 38 special, and my wifes ar15. She knows where they all are and we have told her if she is home alone she has access to them if bad guys come around. She can group within 2 inches at a hundred yards with the ar. Parents cannot defend their children 24 7 so we need to teach them how to do it themselves if necessary.
