Does anyone ever feel compelled to tip when you pick up a call in order? I have yet to hear a good reason to do so.
Not cheap, just not sure why you tip when no one is offering the service.

Nope.

No, but I've done it. Stupidly.
I've actually started paying in cash more just to avoid that.
I tip when I pick up a take out order. My rationale, someone still has to take my order, prepare my order, pack my order, and take my money when I pick it up.
Do any of you not tip the driver when he/she delivers your pizza?
Yes, I always tip on delivery because someone is delivering my food to me. Plus, they are responsible for their own gas. Pick up, and I do the driving. Plus, I don't tip at fast food joints. Do you?
I only tip for curbside takeout, and then it is only a couple bucks.
I think tipping is way out of control. I have a hard time tipping someone for doing their job. Yes I do tip the customary waiter/waitress, delivery person but very few others. Definitely not for pick up. As I said, it just doesn't make sense to me to pay someone extra for doing their job. That includes trash collection, mail carrier and others during the holidays.
Pick up, no I don't tip. I don't see the point, they are getting paid to take my order, etc. It's different if they are actually bringing me food, filling drinks, and all the waiting activities. Delivery also deserves a tip for the same reason, although I never get delivery. (Small town, only 1 place delivers anyways.)
I tip on To-Go orders, delivery any instance in which someone is in charge of my food. They are paid but To-Go folks are still responsible for making sure your order is correct and ready within the time quoted. Tipping doesn't mean much outside the US but ask ANYONE that manages one of these establishments and they will tell you that they don't pay their staff to live without your courtesy. If you don't want to tip then cook at home!
The places (few) that I go for take out are good places. Since I tip, and they know me, everything is a bit better and a little extra is always thrown in. When they see me, they usually move my order to the front of the process.
Now, for a waiter, that person is already getting a % taxed against the bill ~7% but different in many locales, regardless of if you tip them. The counter person for take out is not getting an automatic deduction to taxes so you can lower the tip % and still reward them for doing a great job.
I don't tip the occasional rude or poor service.
I'm just seeing 'tip' jars showing up everywhere. I swear that if someone put a tip jar at a Walgreens, someone would throw money into it. Tipping is WAY out of control-- I agree. It reminds me of the time I spent in Egypt with a custom they call Baksheesh. Course, the only people I ever saw honoring that custom was foreign visitors, but it was ridiculous nonetheless. Someone opens a door for you-- baksheesh. Someone pushes the elevator floor button for you- baksheesh. I became somewhat jaded after that.
I also agree with the fact that there are other service providers out there, such as USPS and cops, that we don't tip even when they work holidays and in horrible weather.
As for being a regular at a place and tipping, well, I guess if you're getting extra food or treats for tipping, I can see that. But, you could always not tip and order more food. Works out the same.
I pay for my goods via Debit Card. This way I curb my impulsive spending, and I don't carry much cash. I know, it sounds like I'm a real pain in the butt by my way of purchases, but it keeps me in check. If I do have pizza delivery, I tip VERY well ( I know how it goes with delivery, as I once delivered pizza myself) I also tip well at a restaraunt as my Mother was once a Server. My daughter currently works as a Server and I know how hard they work.
Heyyyyyyyyyyy, Maybe I'll put a fishbowl out at the Gun Shop where I work, so the people who i sell guns to can throw me a few bucks LMBOH (laffin my butt off here):banana::banana::biggrin2::biggrin2:
I promise to give you great customer service if you do. :yup::biggrin2:
I tip a buck when picking up a carry out order. Maybe more if it is for a large group (and I'm expensing it).
