Doctors:
The number of physicians in the U.S. is
700,000.
Accidental deaths caused by Physicians: 120,000 per year.
Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health and Human Services
Versus
Guns:
The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188
Statistics courtesy of FBI
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Ban doctors.

What's your point? Doctors shouldn't own guns, or Gun owners should become doctors?

Found this:
"information obtained by Death by Medicine shows that an estimated 106,000 people die from adverse drug effects -- from properly prescribed drugs -- every year, and approximately 98,000 die annually from some sort of error by medical staff. Compare this to statistics from the Department of Justice and the U.S. Centers for Disease control for the year 2004, which show an estimated 16,137 people were victims of homicide (not just firearm murders) in the United States

A meaningless argument. I've seen this before, and it doesn't make any sense to say that doctors are more dangerous than any other group.
If you're just saying that law abiding citizens who own guns aren't dangerous, then that makes perfect sense.

I don't think all doctors should be banned, just the assault doctors. And there should be a limit to the amount of instruments they can hold.
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

And those numbers leave out the number of lives saved by doctors. We can't know how many lives guns save because you are trying to count a negative.

It's a fun fact, but ignores how many of those people were gonna die anyway, the complexities of the human body, stuff you just can't foresee, all drugs have potential side effects, etc.

Of course it sounds true. Medicine is not a exact science. Sometimes several "mistakes" happen before the "right" one is found.
Then there is malpractice or as the doctor's like to call them, "Medical Misadventures". Almost sounds like a action movie, doesn't it? Those happen more often then anyone wants to think.
I can totally believe those stats.

I guess the trick is to live a life where you delay needing to go to the hospital.
As well, I'd suggest against using a Glock to treat a tumor
If 'mental illness' is a main cause of gun-grabbing sentiments, then mental illness is the true enemy.

Just add two stats and you have a full house:
How many people did doctors actually save in that period.
How many lives were saved by the gun owners.

Not to mention who decided the death was due to the physician's mistakes? Plaintiff attorneys?
I'd rather be lucky than good any day
