Safety - Funny but not really. Almost blew up a pressure cooker in my face. Oops!
Just sayin, be careful out there....
We all harp on each other about obvious safety issues with firearms, but I just almost blew my frontal lobe through the roof making dinner.
Background - put about 3 pounds of Pork Loin in the pressure cooker (nice seasoning...) and turned on the stove, left to do stuff, and waited until I could hear the usual hissing (meaning that it is a cooking pressure/temp) to go adjust the temp down (lower the temp to a cooking pressure for the time I want it to cook).
Well I went to the stove and messed with the temp, and then realized that the lid was not (NOT) propperly secure, however it was under pressure.... OOPS! If you have never seen a lid of a pressure cooker blow off, consider yourself lucky. Its a non explosive IED, but will do damage. Did the immediate action of turning off the heat, gingerly moving the pot to the sink (an not putting my face anywhere near the lid) and cooled it down with some cold water until I could rotate the lid to secure it.
Down Side - I did not do my pre-action checks.
Up Side - I recognized the Hazard immediately and did my immediate action drill.
Be safe out there people! Firearms don't kill people. Stupid people kill themselves or other people. Don't be a moron like me (at least I'm not on a rolling bed right now). Oh, and it is not cool to also smoke around black powder - that is another story (not me, a friend).
