That will certainly happen due to the fears of gun owners.
Panic buying drives the prices up and the availability down.
Sticking your head in the sand and saying it aint so wont change things.
Have you tried to buy any AR parts lately?

As of 11/7/12, a sampling of prices (GunBroker) the following models, with at least 10 instances of pricing in the range:
- Stag AR15 Model 3 -- $750-950
- Colt AR15 6920 -- $1050-1150
- SIG 556 -- $850-999
- RRA A4 -- $950-1199
- S&W M&P Sport A3/A4/15OR -- $800-999

Dang right. If I wasn't one of the 47%, I would've bought stock in black rifles and ammo and sat back and got fat. I'm sure that's where a lot of LaPierre's million-dollar salary goes. He works hard all year to drive the prices up.I predict atctimmy will soon sell-off his Colt Industries preferred stock...after a tidy profit.

Actually, I'm not helping at all. It is what it is and you of all people should know that.
atctimmy has a deep stock of ammo and I have no need to run out and panic buy a bunch more. I'll keep (and shoot) what I have and maybe even sell some when it's worth it for me to do so.

Just saying that this is being brought up in all of the forums and that alone puts it in folks minds that their may be a problem...then they do not want to take a chance so they go out and buy ammo, then the prices start going up. It becomes a self fullfilling prophecy.
I don't see in my gardening forum folks stocking up on lettuce.......

Ok seriously, the truth is the truth and we both know it's going to happen. I will concede to you your point about it being a self fulfilling prophecy because it is. But the fear has been there all along. My speaking it out loud is not creating the fear or the panic. I'm just calling it by name.
