Rome fell and humanity regressed. Peasants gazed in wonderment at long dry aqueducts. Will all that we have fall into memory? If so, will it be quick or will it be gradual? Will our descendants three centuries from now look upon our accomplishments with the same wonderment as those peasants in the Dark Ages? I hope not.
This evening when I saw this thread an old happening came to mind. Since some of you have told strange things I will too. Strange how things come to mind.
About 23 years ago my step daughter and I were on our way home. It was about 11 at night and all was quite. We live out in no where and the sidewalks ( there are no sidewalks ) are rolled up about 10 pm. As we are sitting at this stop sign my step daughter looks over to the side of the road and kind of sucks in her breath. I look over at her and ask what is wrong. She has a very strange look on her face, kind of the look of someone who is frightened. She said look at that boy. On the side of the road is one of those metal rails to keep people from going down into a persons yard or over an embankment. Sitting on this rail, remember it is at least 11 pm, is a boy maybe 9 years old. At first I thought what on earth is a 9 year old doing out this time of night. This is not usual at all around my parts. Then the kid looked up at me. I have to say I will never forget this kids face. This was a look of pure evil. I don't know how else to explain it. I was terrified. We got the heck out of there. As we crossed the intersection I looked in the rear view mirror and the kid was gone.
We never talked about this until about 2 years ago when we were at that same stop sign again, in the middle of the day lol. She looked at me and asked if I remembered the boy. That was all she said. That night came right back into my memory as if it has only been a few days before. I will never forget that child's face.
Laugh if you like but this is a true story

Why is it that on my way to and from work I only pass oncoming traffic on turns therefore increasing my chances of a collision? Not kidding.

I think it will be relatively quick in the grand scheme of things. Depending on how the next 4 years go...then the next 4 after that. When the dependent outnumber the providers and can always out vote them, the breakdown will quickly follow. Right now we're teetering on the edge but tipping towards Rome.Quote:

Look up often. Observe. What does the sky look like? When you see a long "contrail" observe it for a long period of time. Look for other similar "contrails" that day and observe them as well. Do the "clouds" look like the clouds you see on days when there are no "contrails"? Is what you just saw normal?
Just for the record...I flew "spyplanes" in the 60s. We were constantly checking temperature and humidity at various altitudes for "persistent" or "non-persistent" contrails. We really didn't want a "persistent" contrail to point to our position...better yet was no contrail. Sometimes another plane would observe our flight track to tell us to change altitude to avoid contrails. "Chemtrails?" I dunno...
