It drives my husband (a FL native) nuts I let the kids play in the pond, heck I do sometimes too lol. But it wasn't FL where I grew up doing it, it was VA in Lake Anna. You just have to be careful down here in the hot months because of amoeba - well and gators and snakes. Lol keeps it exciting!

When as a kid I lived in Miami I always swam in the canal until a certain alligator convined me otherwise. After that I stuck to the ocean and the sharks.
