"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."

I like the three major food groups: bottle, can and keg.

Here is the story of Marion Nolan. Who was the California Venus at the tender age of 16 - later shot to death on the streets of San Francisco by an infatuated stalker who immediately after shooting Marion blew his own brains out and fell atop her body.

She is long gone and turned to dust and bones but, the marble sculpture of her still remains on display.

What a different ending this story could have had if she was carrying a handgun for personal protection.
Sadly though in San Francisco she probably would still be S.O.L. today since she would not have been allowed to carry one.

California Digital Newspaper Collection — San Francisco Call 21 October 1902 — MARIAN NOLAN, "THE CALIFORNIA VENUS," SHOT AND ALMOST INSTANTLY KILLED BY E. MARSHUTS, WHO COMMITS SUICIDE

Why is she holding a taco on her head?
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

More likely to be a hair pin, or something like it.

Perhaps a taco hair pin. It was San Francisco, after all. But then, it was 1902. O! the mystery.

How dare you make a comment like that about the California Venus!

This will be the very last time that I try to bring firearm related Art & Culture to a pack of hungry Zoo animals.
