With respect to the 2A and helping guard ultimate freedom from despotism and tyranny, how is it anyone can believe being forcibly disarmed as a People could possibly help things? What, do they actually believe history won't repeat itself, as it has time and again?

A lot of people are too lazy to investigate the past.

Then there are those who are super naive, and put blind faith into the talking heads.

Then there is the main driving force: an elite class which actually understands history, and knows they must disarm those whom they wish to take advantage of.

Hitler, Stalin & Mao, (and others) all knew exactly what they were doing.

    No, way too expensive!

Think about the 1930s when various totalitarian governments were confiscating guns and only allowing those with privilege to own guns.

The original saying Santayana saying is actually:

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

But, it really goes way further back to something like history will always repeat itself because human nature does not change

Don't ask me how far back and who first said that and what the exact quote was because I don't know my history THAT well.

There's nothing that will change someone's moral outlook quicker than cash in large sums.

Majority rule only works if you're also considering individual rights. Because you can't have five wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for supper.
