Blame the workers all you want.
This is a combination of gross mismanagement and vulture capitalism.
I'm no food nazi, < just polishing off a Dunkin Doughnut right now>
but Hostess just makes crap.
Combine that with investors that look to invest in a firm likely to fail to show a profit in the near term,
triggering the takeover clauses, resulting in forfeiture of some or all the assets of the company,
with an eye towards selling off the constituent parts, hence showing a profit while destroying or hobbling the company.
This is the THIRD time they have filed BK in 10 years, they raided the pension fund
& the workers took a pay cut both times.

Greed works . . .
but not at Hostess. Bump the unemployment numbers up by 18,500.

This was an issue on all fronts. Are the unions to blame? Yup. Is mismanagement to blame? Heck yes. Who is gonna ultimately pay? We the taxpayers for their 'retraining' and other benefits. And, why not? With an entitlement driven leader, you can rest well at night knowing anyone you lay off will be taken care of, so go that route every time when money is not flowing as well.
Now, more importantly, how is this going to affect the fairs in OK, MS, MO, TX, GA, and a half dozen other states that rely on deep fried Twinkey's and Ho-Ho's to keep their carnies working 16 hour shifts? We gotta worry about those people, too!!!

Those things are just plastic that you can eat. As mentioned in another thread, I put one up at the beginning of each year in my classroom and bet the kids it looks the same 180 days later. Guess who wins that bet. Disgusting.

Start hording the existing stock! They have a 200 year shelf life & will be used as currency in a post apocalyptic world.

There are a LOT of things bad for you that people have no problem with. Next time you have a scotch on the rocks remember that you're drinking something bad for you.

Honey lasts forever also.......what is your point? Hope you are not teaching by analogy LOL. Anything of too much is bad. A twinke every now and then is not going to kill you.

LOL I completely agree. I think people should be allowed to eat them if they chose. MY post was opinion only. And scotch, now that is one of the gifts from God!

HA! No, not using it as an analogy, just making a point to be mindful of decisions one makes. I try to add more than mere content. Heck the free lunches at school are much scarier than a twinkie!
