Open Apology to Rammerjammer and for my Intolerance

Evidently yesterday with my posts on democracy vs. republic I must have put RammerJammer’s undies in a bunch!

RammerJammer this is an open apology as my comments were not directed at you and in no way was I impugning your knowledge or comments! A general note: I will quote the person if I am directing my comments in response to theirs. If the is no quote then it is my Rant, random comments, etc.

I do have a limited tolerance when discussing our governance given from the constitution, bill of rights, and the founding fathers documents in both the Federalist Papers as well as the Anit-federalist Papers.

Here is the Amazon.com Link for both the Federalist and Anti-federalist papers:

The Unabridged Federalist Papers and Anti-Federalist Papers: John Jay, James Madison, Patrick Henry, Alexander Hamilton: 9781611042542: Amazon.com: Books

Amazon.com: The Federalist Papers (9781936594405): Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, John Jay: Books

Amazon.com: The Anti-Federalist Papers (9781611042580): Founding Fathers: Books

As for the constitution and bill of rights, I recommend Hillsdale College free on-line classes:

If you can, the $50.00 donation would be welcomed by Hillsdale College!

I haven't seen any posts by you in reply to my question posed last night. I noticed that thread was shut down and posts had probably been removed so I have no clue what was written.

So in my view no harm no foul. I think that we can both agree that democracies by their nature vote themselves out of existence.

I, like the previous posters, am unable to see the back & forth that prompted this open apology. Yet I find it strangely disingenuous to include the word "apology" with such a belittling & dismissive phrase as "undies in a bunch". If you're going to apologize, why would you remain condescending toward the man? And then to link your sources as (what I can only guess to be) continued justification and/or validation of your opinion? IMHO, this isn't an apology, it's the thinly-veiled continuation of a closed thread. BTW, if you're gonna' come-on as some sort of Constitutional scholar, you might wanna' capitalize such insignificant phrases as "Bill of Rights". If intellectual pontification is your aim around here, we'll be glad to engage. But to paraphrase your quote above, we, too, "have limited tolerance".

What we need is a DC Octagon, where we can get from behind the computer and settle.

Of course I am serious, but on that note, it is really frustrating sometimes going back and forth in print. Alot gets lost in the translation and I believe things would not get so hot if we were seeing each others true demeanor and emotion.

Well ghost tracker would it have been a better phrase if I had stated that I might have PO rammerjammer? or maybe some other phrase that indicated I had offended! It is an attempt at humor! To lighten the hard feelings, if they existed, and in no way dismissive or belittling!

As for a Constitutional scholar, I neither claim to be, or represent myself to be nor propound to be a scholar! When I was 18 I knew everything and now I realize how much I either forgot or never knew!

As for the links, they are posted should someone be willing and would like to enlighten themselves, as I have neither the time nor willingness to get into a lengthy discussion of the merits or attributes of a republic vs a democracy. I have too many grand kids and great grand kids that I must help get through this period of our history. I have read and spent time using the referenced books and I again thought they would be helpful to others.

Again, I truly thought from rammerjammer's post I had offended him and wished to clarify! And while I have been in the past condescending, this was not one of those times!

Okay, I'm your huckleberry. You might have suggested that it your YOUR (and not HIS) "undies in a bunch". If it's humor you're after, wouldn't it have been just as funny (but more of an olive branch) without continuing condescension? Why not just PM rammerjammer an apology without the continued soap-boxed, horn-tooting?

FWIW I figured out what he meant and that it was in good humor...besides, let them duke it out!

I'm all for bringing back dueling pistols. Settle these things like real men and with some true finality connected to it.

Is light a wave or a particle. Sometimes things have multiple attributes. Our form of government
    is like that.

    That is surely the truth.

Email and internet posts are pretty close to one-dimensional. I daresay half the anger generated on line would fade away in seconds if it materialized at all, if all the opinions were shared and the words were spoken face-to-face. This 'flat' medium eliminates the body language and the nonverbal communication that add dimension and texture to most conversations. And on the negative side, those who want to take an adversarial position can snipe with near anonymity and the ability to respond not in 'real time.'

So I guess what we need is a face-to-face DC 'convention' some time, with plenty of time set aside to air differences. Still waiting for atctimmy to get the farm shipshape for the First Annual DC Forum Shoot, so we can all drop in and share what's on our minds... http://www.defensivecarry.com/forum/...l_1/smile2.gif
