Nice - deer and getting the kiddos involved. MO has a point restriction in many places so I couldn't shoot the biggest deer I've seen while hunting - short rack and moving about 200 yds out and I couldn't be sure of # of points. Afterwards, guys I hunted with had a good time telling me about the huge 13 pointer running around the property.

Great deer! I'd take a 6 like that any day. I'm headed out in the morning. I need to go get some sleep.

    Very nice! Congrats.
But's it's going to cost you a new pistol to get him mounted!

Thats a fat 6! I'm having coffee while my son is out after a 9 that I've been gunning for. I've let a few smaller bucks walk and it's not yet time for filling the freezer. My 9 is the biggest and sneakiest deer I've come across. I did my scouting and I know his haunts. I've had him in the scope twice but not in the cross hairs. I can't take a shot like that. I may end up chasing this one the entire season as it looks. He always robs me of 10 minutes of light, morning and evening.

Good luck the rest of the season!

I'll just do a skull cap type mount. They only cost about 75 to 100 bucks. I've shot some other big ones but I've never shot "buckzilla" so I'm gonna wait for him to do the full head and shoulder mount.

atctimmy - You are like Dr. Dolittle! A true friend of nature with the ability to tame wild animals!
I really liked those pictures you posted of that buck all stretched out and comfortably sleeping in the back of your truck.
Does he hop up in there every night to sleep?
He seemed really friendly and even after he woke up (I noticed that his eyes were open but, he still looked kinda sleepy) it's AMAZING that he just layed there quietly and let you play with his antlers. He obviously really trusts you!
That's really nice of you to let him sleep back there because the truck bed seems like it would be much more comfortable than the rocky ground.
It's hard to believe that he is actually tame enough for you to let your kids get so close to him. Does he like children?
    I have a GREAT idea!
Why don't you put a nice thick bed of straw down in the back of your truck so he can be more comfortable when he goes in there to sleep?

WHAT!!! I just read further down that he is dead! You SHOT him?!?!? You killed him!?!

Oh GOD! You're not going to EAT him?

    Oh...the humanities!

    Nice buck,

No scale, how many cases of ammo do you think he feels like.
