British Police: Struggling To Cope With Crime
London Telegraph
Despite the enactment of gun control schemes that include a total ban on handguns, police chiefs have admitted they "lack the co-ordination and intelligence" to deal with Britain's gun crisis, sparking fears that thousands of crimes are going unsolved.

Well that was one swell solution to the "gun problem"...glad it is working sooooo well..................
Maybe it is about time people stop blaming the intruments, and start blaming the players.
Otherwise they can just blame themselves for what happens.

They just don't see the simple solution. Let people defend themselves. Give them back the right to have concealed weapons and all the BG will ind up dead. No more roberies and no more murders.

So thier ban, which hasn't worked. Is causing the Police too much work to keep a catalog of any weapons recovered. So to keep a failing program running throw more money and manpower at it, which could have been used to put more LEO's on the street.
I've always liked the Brits but sometimes they are bass ackwards. You'd think that after almost being invaded they'd want everyone armed.
There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That's one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do we arm the other 11? (Yuri Orlov [Nicolas Cage] Lord of War)

Sadly,I believe that once your rights are lost, theirs no gettin' em back.
The politicians will never simply say,"oops, guess we made a mistake, lets give the guns back to the people". ---------

We have had the right to defend ourselves since we lived in caves and now the liberals want to change all that. Go figure.

It seems more and more clear to me that the purpose of gun control is to open the door to more control period.
Those in government who push for these things know damn good and well that its not going to do a single thing to lessen violent crime or make anyone safer, so they pile on with more and more control of our lives.
- Banning "Saturday Night Specials" and "Assault Rifles" didn't completely disarm the criminals so now we need a ban on all repeating firearms.
- Banning repeaters didn't completely disarm the criminals so now we need a total ban on all civilian firearms ownership.
- The total ban didn't completely disarm the criminals so now we need cameras on every corner.
- The cameras haven't ended crime so now we need warrantless searches.
- The warrantless searches haven't ended crime so now we need facial recognition on the video cameras.
- The facial recognition hasn't ended crime so now we're going to require you good citizens to allow us to inject this tracking chip in your behind.
Gun control is just one step toward totalitarianism and anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar or a fool.

Let me add this interesting lil gem too -
Real Crime, Fake Justice
City Journal
For the last 40 years, government policy in Britain, de facto if not always de jure, has been to render the British population virtually defenseless against criminals and criminality.
Almost alone of British government policies, this one has been supremely effective: no Briton nowadays goes many hours without wondering how to avoid being victimized by a criminal intent on theft, burglary, or violence.

Cops don't carry guns, so can't shoot 'em. Can't chase 'em for fear of its being "unsafe" for the criminal. Can't beat 'em too much or their cardboard stick will break.
<sigh>
One can only hope they will "get it" before it's too late.

Yeah, but they have a whistle. That will help. Everyone knows about the fearsome stopping power of a whistle.
Probably can't blow it after 11pm at night for fears of noise pollution though.

Maybe they could start a govt program where you declare youself to be a hopeless, addicted criminal. Since you are a pitiable victim of improper toilet training, or something similar, they would then enroll you in several social improvement programs. Give you free housing, monthly support checks, job councilling. Self image training. Anger management courses. Drug treatment, the works. All this could be funded by increased taxes! Society would become a utopia!!! No more crime, no more victims.
Oh, wait, wait, darn. We've been trying the here havn't we?

Well, they're a good example of the complete failure of gun control to accomplish anything but increase crime!
