Does anyone here use any voice recognition software?
Can it be used on a forum setup,or do you need to cut-n-paste from a blank page?
Thinking about getting Dragon, but I'll listen to advice.

this was typed in input by voice recognition on an Android phone. It is built into the phone should be on an iPhone too I think.

Just don't speak to it with a Scottish accent.

Have used Dragon...it does work but with a lot of set up time and training....You have to train the software to recognize your speech pattens and rhythm's. It will take many many hours of training (talking to dragon) before you can use it error free. It does have problems with sound-a-like words and you will always have to check it as your are speaking.
If you have the time to devote to it for proper set up it can save you a lot of typing.....

I have an android phone with voice recognition. It does not accurately recognize enough of my speech to bother with it. And that's not even counting the sound alike words. It might get a 2 word command but it's not worth my time.

If you shot a gun around voice recognition software, would it say "BANG"?
Dragon is very good. Don't discount the voice recognition with Office and Windows. For many it is adequate. MSFT back in the day , spent a fortune developing it.

It works pretty well on new android devices.
I have a west coast accent with a slight southern drawl. I usually get confused looks. Siri apparently thinks I cuss a lot (I don't - well, not a lot anyways ;-).
I've yet to have any recognition software that can decipher me.

I have Dragon. Works good. If your hands or wrists are sore, I would use the Dragon software (assuming you're on a PC, that is). Obviously, the Smartphones already have this technology.....

I bought Dragon when it first came out. Years ago. It was Dragon Speak & Spell (I think) AOL offered it. It was terrible.
I'm sure that it has made some good advancements in speech recognition since then.
Back then you needed to go back and correct tons of stuff that it got got wrong.

I had Dragon about 10 years ago. It made more mistakes than I did. I understand the current version is makes the version I had look sick.
QKShooter: It seems you and I had the same version.
You have to remember how absolutely hilarious some of the words and sentence errors were.We must have had the same version. I really wanted that doggone thing to work. I hate to type. That earliest version was akin to flushing $$$ down the KYBO.
Dragon Dictate works very well for me. I have the Mac version and it took me less than an hour to set it up and start dictating. I'd definitely recommend it and it does work on forums.
