Well said. There's no reason to, as you say. It's courteous and warm greetings. Hard to be offended by that.

Merry Christmas - don't like it? Then don't say it return.

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate Christmas. Happy Hanukkah to you who celebrate Hanukkah. I hope all the rest of y'all can enjoy a little time off, eat some good food, visit with some pleasant people, and put up with those of us who are celebrating. If you are grumpy, I'll smile, love you just the same, and figure some part of your carry rig is pinching you somewhere.

    Merry Christmas

I'm an atheist.... I personally like Merry Christmas as mush because it pisses of the liberal left and I can appreciate the reason for the season outwith being a believer. I particularly enjoy saying "And a Merry Christmas to you too" to someone who says "Happy Holidays".

I was coming back into the US in Port Huron MI. from Sarnia a couple years ago just before Christmas, and the customs agent/guard at the border, after asking the usual mundane questions, says" you're all set, heres your passport," etc, and I say to him "Happy holi"....... and he cuts me off and says "MERRY CHRISTMAS, Pi_ _ On all that Happy hoildays crap" and I said to him, "MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family as well sir"!!!

Kinda made me extra proud to be an American at that moment!

Ben Stein put it rather nicely,

Next confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees. It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

Merry Christmas, in honor of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I have some Jewish friends, and I try to remember to include Happy Hannakah for them. They do the same thing with me, wishing me a Merry Christmas.
