It would be a good move on his part to use the gas on his own people - genocide is apparently the only way to win a guerrilla war. I wonder if the guerrillas in his country know this, and are preparing for it?

Genocide is a historically proven war fighting technique. The reason why there is so much bad blood in the Middle East is because it went out of fashion. You don't hear about the Amalekites or Philistines clamoring for their piece of the West Bank do ya?

Once Upon A Time…..When a leader would declare war on a way of life. There intent was to wipe um all out so their can be no retaliation, and enslave their survivors to tale our work fields. They were savages!

Their weaponry was crude Medieval Armory: Sticks & stones, swords, shields & body armor, bow & arrows, even simple hammers were used. Their battles took place in open fields or through pillaging simple encampment sights or villages. It was simple times, it was famously crude times. You could get away with genocide as it was a way of dispersing of your enemy, and not have to worry about them avenging your tyranny or “Coup D`etat-ing” your Thorne of Rule.

Zip forward to our modern time. The likes of those whom choose to practice genocide (the new political correct definition now is War Crimes); examples > Hitler, Hussein, Gaddafi, Tiso, Traore’, are eventually brought to justice today, either at the hands of their own citizens or through the will of World Leaders, because we believe in practicing humane warfare. What ever that is? Sounds like a faux pas on a foray to me. War is war and your intent is to kill your enemy before they kill you!

We dropped the first Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nuclear Weapons were born. Now I don’t think we should all start loping nukes too-&-fro, as those of today are far more devastating then the A-Bomb’s of yesteryear's. And we shouldn’t simply just gas out our opponents. No lets just blast um with auto-fire weaponry, as in the words of General Putnam and Col. Prescott : “ Don’t shoot till you see the whites of their eyes! “.....through your scope @370m!!

So now we're supplying Egypt with another twenty F16 fighter jets as part of a billion dollar aid package???

Lessons learned are so soon forgotten

You confuse appeasing our businessmen and our foreign policy, and which is most important. 20 F16s are a lot of jobs too.

And this garbage happens with all administrations. It is right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing and both working at opposite purpose.

OTOH, we seem to be relying on the Egyptian military and its unique culture to keep their political leaders in check, so
this is sort of a bribe to the Generals there to stay on our side. That way we don't have to worry about what Morsi and "The Brotherhood" does, just what they says.

Ike got it right-- beware the military industrial complex.
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.

If you are correct then, instead of us "worming around" Syria and their sarin gas stash lets help Iran with their nuke program.

With the Egyptian people starting to mill about their streets in mass, these F16's will come in handy soon for those Generals you're taking about.

Great! Between that and Kim Jung Il junior...or whatever his name is...firing a rocket yesterday, what could go wrong?
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Just seen that too. Also seen how countries are pretty much lining up to supply the 'rebels' with weapons, while expressing little concern for which hands they ultimately end up in. Am I the only one with a case of deja vu?
