I think history is a critical subject to understand. The problem I see is that its true significance isn't taught, at least in any of the courses I've seen. The classic question of "why should I learn history?" was never answered in any meaningful way, other than to say it was required for graduation. It needs to be understood in terms of human behavior as well as the results of the choices that were made. Sort of an anthropological/sociological point of view.

Another subject not stressed is economics. That is strange considering our culture is based on capitalism.

Which "he" are you remembering? We've had several quoted so far.
There are only TWO kinds of people in this world; those who describe the world as filled with two kinds of people...and those who don't.

We learn from history every day all day. This is how we predict the future.

A few elitists shouldn't rule the many.

I can't remember where I put my car keys, and you expect me to remember history?

Political and social ideologies ebb and flow. We have elections and a free press to keep the generations in check and have proven that we are are willing to fight wars for same. The end is always near but not yet brother. Not yet.

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
