Hanging up my guns
Well, I'll be hanging up my guns for a while. Since last Thursday I have been having severe pain in my right hip/lower back area. Being someone who has no love of doctors, I have been avoiding going to have it looked at. Well this morning I couldn't take it anymore. Could barely walk from the bedroom to the bathroom, in fact, if I hadn't had something to hang onto I probably wouldn't have made it.
Finally broke down and went to the ER. After poking and prodding and twisting, they took x-rays. I have sever inflammation in the lower back, causing irritation to the nerves. Doctor put me on steroids, muscle relaxers and narcotic pain relievers. No work or driving while I'm on the pain meds (5-7 days), and my decision to hang up the guns while I'm on it. Will seem strange not strapping it on first thing in the morning and wearing until ready for bed. Hopefully when the meds run out, the pain will have gone as well, and I can get back to normal.
Guess for now my SA, OC and knife will be my constant companions.

Pain meds can be your friends. Hang in there; you'll be fine.

If it's any consolation as we grow uh more mature time flies. You'll be strapping it on again before you know it.
Hang in there.

Well certainly not the best news. Give the meds some time to do their thing and you'll be back on 2 good legs in no time.

All I can say is best to ya! Grunt through it!
Now, if someone happens to be breaking into your abode, and your shotgun goes off while 'cleaning it'.............. I think you get a pass on that one!

It sounds like you are well into the "no fun" zone.
I cannot argue with the steps you've taken.
If you know a good chiropractor and massage therapist, this may be a good time to renew their acquaintance. If they are able to help move you along the road to recovery, you might need fewer pain meds (I hate meds).
Meanwhile I'll send a prayer skyward for your benefit.
Best wishes for speedy recovery.

Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt. Hang in there, it will get better.

When my back goes out I end up flat on my back and I don't want to go anywhere. Even potty gun is a major pain and effort. Getting dressed and out the door with a carry is last in my thoughts.

archer51, sorry to hear of your back & hip pain. Hope that the steroids take care of the inflammation, and the other meds keep you comfortable.
Take it easy, listen to your doctors, and get well soon.

Getting old is not for sissies. Chiropractor and massage therapist is really good advice. Take care, don't push things.

I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

I hope you get over the back pain quickly! The steroids should help a lot and you'll be able to play baseball afterwards, so that's a plus.
Seriously, get better soon! That's an order.
