Yes. We are great at kicking someone out of a country they invaded. We have a pretty poor track record with civil wars though. Which is kind of how I see Vietnam, Iraq 2, and A-stan. You are fighting part of the population within their own country. Is there really any way to win that? We were doing fine till we put boots on the ground IMO. There is a great line from We Were Soldiers about that. Where the General says they are going to kick the VC out and send them home, And Mel Gibson's character say something like, "But sir, they are home."

I think you're on the mark. In fact I frequently make similar comments to people around me. I appreciate you taking the time to articulate your position and find it comforting to find out that maybe I'm not a right wing whacko nut job after all. Carry on.

    What's your views y'all?
My views are pretty much the same as yours. I see our country turning hard left and becoming part of the "One World" philosophy. IMO it started in this direction under Johnson's administration and his "War on Poverty" which is where welfare got it's start. When we started giving money to people with essentially no strings attached they became dependent on the government, not themselves. The family has broken down, respect for others has diminished, drugs are rampant and violence is now just a way of life for a lot of people. Add that to elected officials who openly admire the Socialist/Marxist philosophy and we're looking at the end of the country as we know it. We now have a "new normal" and it scares the heck out of me.
The worst part is that we don't seem to be able to stop the spiral downwards. Protesting doesn't help, voting doesn't help, letter writing and calling our reps (depending on who they are) doesn't help, I don't see an end.
We've raised our kids to be pretty conservative and really think about what people are saying and advocating, not think with their emotions and pop culture icons. It's hard because they are bombarded 24/7 by the Liberal media and the likes of Sandra Fluke who was held up as hero for demanding free stuff.
The only thing that I take comfort in is that there are a lot of people who want this to turn around, many of them on this forum, and many of them our friends. I don't know if it's enough or if we've gotten to the point of no return. The people who demand the free stuff vote too.
2013 is going to be a very telling year.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
