Federal Government (bureaucratic programs) Pay Raise
Why should the federal government get a revenue increase while making sure the citizens get a revenue deduction? My first paycheck of the year came in yesterday.
Edit to add: This is not about wage increases, it is regarding the bureaucratic programs, pork spending, etc. Things like Obamacare, gun control programs, and free aid to companies that donate to political campaigns. (Talk about funding campaigns with tax cash!).
And I hope this isn't to political as that is not my intention.

They have a harder job than you, peasant.
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

Do you mean "subject & peasant"? I sure don't feel like I am being treated like a citizen!

I am not talking about government employees - I am a state employee and haven't seen a pay raise either, but why should the government get more revenue, and not the citizens? Employees are (or should be) citizens of government. Personally with the way this country is, I don't need a pay raise and would rather not see one if they reduce taxes and bloated spending!
I just don't want them to raise their revenue by raising my taxes, so they can spend it anyway they want - including gun control.

Well, I am retired military and did not see any increase in my check, must have been less than fifty cents, the check is rounded up or down to the nearest whole dollar.

Yes, people don't understand about the pay freeze; its not talked about on hate radio and tv.
Folks also don't understand that the FICA tax has not been raised. It has been returned to the same level it has been at forever, except during the two years of our economic emergency.
My son works in private industry. He hasn't gotten a raise in 4 years. His FICA tax went up too. Everyone is in the same
boat.

I have no problem with the rank and file federal employee getting a raise, remember that includes the troops and working stiffs. But, the President most definitely should not have given the elected members of government and the upper level bureaucrats a raise.

Two percent of not much is very little.

Wow must be nice I haven't had a raise in over five years, and just lost more money in my paycheck.

They need more money to pay their increased taxes.

I am a federal employee and I was supposed to get a .5% raise. If my math is right this adds up to a whopping 16 cents and hour. On the other hand my Federal and OASDI taxes did go up $183 on my last paycheck.
So get over it. We are all in the same boat.
We'll see how long it takes for my pay raise to actually show up.
ETA: Most federal employees have had their pay frozen for the past three years. So in year 4 we get a big 10-16 cent raise. That works out to 2.5 to 4 cents a year and I'm guessing government wide it's pretty much the same.

Tim, I was always irritated by politicians who would, instead of raising taxes, freeze the pay of Federal employees. That
just shifted the burden from the population as a whole to the backs of the folks doing the work every day.
I think it was Ronnie who shifted the annual adjustment from October, the start of the fiscal year, to January, the start of the calendar New Year. That year everyone was cheated out of 1/4 of the statutory increase provided for by the General Schedule.
The present pay freeze is even worse. It shifts the burden of the deficit onto the backs of the ordinary working stiff employee
and away from the general population. I'm uncertain if these shenanigans violate the various Federal Pay laws--- likely not--- but by common sense they sure do. These freezes are a distinct breach of good faith by Congress and The Executive.

Well, to be honest, I feel well and truly blessed to have my job. Pay raises on no, I get 40(+) hours a week that's steady and I'm not out in the cold digging ditches.
