Small Tannerite blast!
Well two really, but the first was a full 1 lb tanker, the second a smaller charge, which was not as loud - in fact video never does justice to this stuff!. This was at the Sunday shoot, which gave in particular a lot of excercize to my Turk Mauser, as well as wringing out the UC9 Bersa.
This file is only 2Mb now I have done some edits and scrunching, and for a file generated from a wee small dig still camera, really not too bad at all - - Tannerite-time.wmv

LOL i have a recipee for tannerite , but have not got around to mixing a test batch yet .. and untill i satusfy myself its safe well as safe as any bionary compound i wont share it . It may well turn out over sensitive for what i would consider shareing .

guys seriously , impact explosives are easily screwed up , I would hate for someone to loose a hand because the mixed formula was too sensitive . I know we are all adults , but just the same if someone is gonna get hurt i would honestly rather it be me than someone i sent the formula to . I have two versions , one preports to be the " original " the other is a bit cheaper , but a bit more sensitive . neither looks over sensitive to me with my limited knolege but then i could well miss soemthing , it would be nice to have a chemist who knows a bit about energetic materials look them over i guess lol .

I spend a large portion of my time in the Chemistry building at Colorado State University. If you want me to have someone look it over, that's not a problem. I would of course give you my word that I wouldn't try untill a PHD in chemistry had looked it over. Up to you of course, but I think it'd be pretty cool to have a recipe for that stuff.

Blue You sir have a deal , I will pm what i have to you , you take it to the prof's and get an opinion , if they say it should be as safe as the actual stuff you order ( you will prob have to explain it to them or even show them online what tannerite is ) then we will make it avalable to boardmembers who wish it .. along with any precautions the prof stated ok ?

LOL, next time I recommend that the camera man/woman, stand to the left of the gun. Although it is kinda neat to see the brass go winging past......
Very cool. Looks like fun to me.

well for all .. the fomulation (s) are sent to a couple of sources , if and only if the opinion is that mixture (s ) are acceptably stable we will share via pm , from the looks of things one opinion is unavalable for a week or so so be patent . LOL and cross our collective fingers since it looks fairly straightforeward to mix , and much cheaper than ordering .

Probably the main proviso is to mimic the fact that the stuff even when mixed and ready for use - does not and will not and cannot deflragrate - it just does zilch!
That degree of non-sensitivity is what makes it so safe - and it seems any bullet too much under 2,000 fps will not initiate it.

ben its a binary ( two part ) impact explosive that you can order , and haul around safely , you mix it onsite then shoot it to detonate it .. makes a bang , flash , and lots of smoke . kinda a toy for big boys lol .
