    The Preppers of New York

New York hardly seems like a natural location for what has become known as the prepper movement, but in fact the city’s prepping community is not only large and remarkably diverse, its leaders say, it’s also growing rapidly.

When you think about it...who needs survival skills more than people stuck living in NYC? They're at ground zero when the SHTF.

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Yes, but anyone serious about prepping would move. Getting out of NYC would be worth ten thousand times more than a few stored veggies or a couple guns.

Most of them in the article have bugout bags. But how far do you have to go to get out of the NYC metro area, that's a lot of walking.

Not just that, but people outside of the city are going to be resistant to the idea of the hundreds of thousands of NYC refugees moving into the country and competing for resources.

I would guess that folks coming out of the big cities might meet armed resistance.

    This.

The best way of preparing for a situation is minimizing the chances you will be affected by it in the first place.

    Then supplies and skills.

I'm pretty sure that there is some unwritten agreement with the universe stating that any aliens/monsters/terrorists/plagues/zombies must always attack New York first when attempting to wipe out the human population

    Yup. Just ask Floridians.

I'm fine with taking refugees, as long as they leave their politics back up north.
