Your thoughts?A Feb. 9 editorial cartoon by The Kansas City Star's Lee Judge went viral overnight. It is a strong statement about NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre's saying, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
The cartoon depicts the grave of Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle, who was shot and killed along with a friend on a firing range. Accused of the murders is an Iraq War veteran who may suffer from mental illness.
Editorial cartoons are meant to convey opinions, and this one has obviously struck a nerve with many people.
"Just getting a concealed carry permit means you haven't commited a crime yet. CCP holders commit crimes." Daniel Vice, senior attorney for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, quoted on Fox & Friends, 8 Jul, 2008
"Sometimes when you're making gumbo, people just show up.", Leah Chase
I think it is a disgusting cartoon if you could call it that.
"If you make something idiot proof, someone will make a better idiot."
If the Right did that with a dead anti-gun socialist, we would be classified as blood thirsty, violence driven etc... The lefts double standard at work.
Not every good guy with a gun will win, but at least it gives us a fighting chance. Mr. Kyle was shot by surprise, by someone he did not think posed a threat. Just because good guy's with guns don't stop the bad guys with guns 100% of the time, doesn't mean we are the evil one. I would rather good guys with guns stop 50% of the bad guys, than not stop any at all.
This "cartoon" is beyond vile. Making fun of death of anybody is vulgar. Making fun of someones death, then using that to make a political statement is almost as evil as a bad guy with a gun.
"Gun Free Zones" is where only criminals carry guns.
Thats what the media does all to well. That just aint right.
His death, though tragic, is full of irony. But this cartoon is in bad taste, no doubt about that.
Chris Kyle has more dignity and merit in death than this dirt bag has in life.
I wonder what this guy was doing while Chris Kyle was putting his life on the line every night?
I guess if you can't be brave you can always draw cartoons.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
The liberal troll who drew the cartoon is only free to do so because of men like Chris Kyle.
Mr. Judge sure showed poor judgement with this sickening piece of work.
Why is it that when innocents die, a liberal is always ready to jump on the tragedy and use it to push their agenda?
If only there had been a cartoonist with a brain around.
"Was there no end to the conspiracy of irrational prejudice against Red Ryder and his peacemaker?"
Revolvers, “more elegant weapons for a more civilized age.”
The antis seem to need blood to dance in. It does not matter who's it is.
I prefer to live dangerously free than safely caged!
