    Shootin' Some Trap

I was in a bit of a bummed out mood today. Not for any good reason, really, but I was bummed out nonetheless. Once my wife got home from work we decided to head down to the gun club and shoot some trap. We usually shoot pistol or rifle, but today I was in the mood for killing some clay pigeons. My boss (I work at the club) let us borrow a couple shotguns (I know, I know, we need to get our own; what good gun owner doesn't own a couple good shotguns?!) and a few boxes of shells. It had been a while since I shot a shotgun, and even longer since I shot at clays (try 10-12 years) so it took a few pulls before I finally started blasting those pigeons to dust. I shot a couple rounds and we decided to call it a night and head home.

Needless to say, that little bit of shotgun therapy did wonders for my night. My mood was significantly improved, even if my shoulder wasn't .

I hope the rest of you had a good day, or at least a good time at the range today!

    Semper Fi!

The smell of gun smoke or cordite!

The comfort of hearing and felling the report of the shot and the recoil!

It takes some of us 'home' in our minds.

    Best to your and yours.

Today was actually the first time I'd shot trap! When I was a boy (well, I'm still a boy, but when I was a younger one), my dad took my brothers and I out to the farm and we'd throw some clays with a hand thrower. Trap is quite a bit of fun! Go next time you get a chance!

ANGLICO said it just right ............................. Haven't shot for 3 years or so, but was about 250-300 rounds of 12 ga. per week on Monday evening and Saturday afternoons. Love the smell of the fresh burned powder (particularly from Federal papers) and the bump on the shoulder.

Shooting clays is therapeutic, and addictive. I consider it the firearm equivalent of golf.
