A Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman said a shooter at the ragne admitted firing an unauthorized tracer round, which apparently triggered the inferno.
Never happen but true justice would be having the idiot pay for complete restoration.

I believe the "cleanup and reopening" was refering to previous flood damage.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said a shooter at the range admitted firing an unauthorized tracer round. The small flare that is part of the round apparently triggered the inferno.
I sure hope this dudes held accountable for at least damages.. Complete negligence on his part, everything that happened is his fault..

I smell a lawsuit coming , and if so, rightly so. At the very least ban that dufus from that gun range permanently.

I missed this thread originally and started my own which is now closed. I have been the DFW Gun numerous times and taken several of their classes. They offer good training, but unfortunately tend to pander to the mall ninja types also their pricing on guns is terrible. I have a distinct feeling that this was caused by some moron with an AR who shooting off tracers. And the previous roof collapse they had was from 2007 when we had a freakishly large amount of rain in a very short time. On the late news tonight they showed the remnants of the facility, literally it is all gone except two block walls. I'll be over in that area tomorrow for a meeting, I'll take a drive by the site time permitting.

Dallas FD said they were using tire shreds. Is that normal for an indoor range?

This used to be a two story building, as you can see it is a total loss:

Most indoor ranges use shredded rubber the rubber is ground into chunks about 2" diameter and piled up to a depth several feet thick,it traps the bullets in the material, now imagine what happens when you set some rubber on fire,In the past they have had tire dump sites catch on fire and all they can do is let them go until they burn out

I'm pretty sure they had a lot of insurance,I seriously doubt any Idiot that would fire tracers indoors has any kind of assets to pay for that damage

I didn't know that. I don't usually go to indoor ranges.

Bad News for Dallas Area Shooters

I was going to shoot there this Friday. Crap.

One more check box on the form in the future. "I will not shoot tracers on the range".
