No respect for out national Anthem....

So I was watching some highlights from the race today ( go fast turn left) and i noticed that they had Ray lewis, 50 cent and some other black celebrities at the race. I also noticed that 50 cent didnt have the decency to remove his hat during the national anthem. Did anyone else notice this? God Bless America......

I like the line from 'Slap Shot' from one of the Hanson Brothers when the Ref is in his face (after the big warm up fight) during the National Anthem...... yelling: "I'm trying to listen to the (redacted) song!"

Who is this 'Two Quarters' person anyway?

It also bothers me during football games when hats aren't removed and hands are not on the hearts (fans and players), though I try not to be too critical of others.

Our society no longer knows what respect is, or what it means. Respect and honor are words, skills and traditions that that are no longer a part of our culture. We are becoming an "all about me" society.

I see it often at public events and it drives me nuts. I stand at HOME when I am watching it on TV. Might be a little much, but I also take great pride in saying it at school each day as well.

Well said..... I was raised by the belt, and I learned at a very young age what respect, honer and pride were, in all things. It truly disgusts me that out country has gone the way it has. I take pride on knowing that not everyone has fallen to the wayside, hence my love for the Defensive Carry Forum..... and also another reason I choose to CC.

My family would've taken me out back behind the bleachers if I didn't stand, remove my hat, and shut my pie-hole during the National Anthem.

Manners, respect, and commen sense do seem to not be as important as the 'indiviual' any longer. Having said that, I also watch and see a LOT of daddies showing their young'uns what to do when the National Anthem is palyed and the Colors are raised. That warms my heart!

You and yours have given more than I ever could. Standing and being respectful is the least we can do, and a good caning is what those who disagree deserve.

Manners, respect, and common sense do seem to not be as important as the 'individual' any longer. Having said that, I also watch and see a LOT of daddies showing their young'uns what to do when the National Anthem is played and the Colors are raised. That warms my heart!
I was raised up knowing if I fouled up I was gonna get spanked. If I really did something bad I got the belt but never in public and always by Dad. I remember clear as a bell the first time I found out what Ivory Bar Soap tasted like. That was one of the few times I learned a lesson with just one application of punishment.

What really chaps my hide is when some rock star steps up to sing the National Anthem at the big game and either DOESN'T KNOW THE WORDS or worse still sings it as tho it's a Blues or Rock n Roll tune.

I just want to reach down their throat and rip out their voice box. At least by doing that they would NEVER EVER disrespect the Star Spangled Banner again.

IMO 50 cent is the typical dirt bag, and he thinks the world revolves around him. I know several people that did contract work on his house in Ct. and he never paid them. The words of his front man was, why don't you sue us.

I agree, same as removing your hat when a funeral procession goes by; what does it hurt to show a little respect for things that at one time were considered important. " The Defense of Ft McHenry" is a poem written by a man who had been detained on a British ship when he came out under a flag of truce to discuss the exchange of prisoners. He was asking his captors how the battle went. Our government was in dire straits, Washington had been sacked and burned and the garrison of the fort were fighting for our right to exist as a nation. Somehow this still demands respect in my book.

I suppose that the statement about the First Amendment having to do more with the statement you disagree with than the one you agree with comes to mind; too bad some people see their right to disrespect as the important one. I am personally happy to enjoy the right to respect.

Our National Anthem is now just something played before an event that is used to show off the singers vocal range and ability to make people wish they would just get finished so that we can get on to the more important things.

Do these people you know, know how to operate a Front End Loader or Excavator? Get my drift? I've never heard of this two bit character you've mentioned but if he had of wronged me I might just go ga ga on some large equipment on him. If at some point he comes out just look him in the eye and say Sue Me.

I did not get to see the whole clip of when the Pres. gave the Medal of Honor out but I heard from a old friend that the Pres. after placing the medal around his neck and then shook his hand and that was it, back in the day the comander and chief took one step back and gave a smart salute to the person. I do not not watch many sporting event because of the lack of respect showed by a large number of the public, if I am going to watch it will be 15 to 30 mins before I tune in. I have lost several friends who fought for the flag and have heard Taps and touched the flag embracing them for there journey home so even in the house I stand for my brothers and sisters who can't and give a salute for those that gave all. Guess I'm just a old fool but I will carry on untill I can't stand----God Bless
