PORT LAVACA, Texas—
Weapons buffs may stock semiautomatics in the gun safe. But nothing makes a statement like having an Army tank in the garage.
Scattered around the country are members of a small fraternity of guys who own tanks. They are hyper-avid history buffs or hyper-edgy investors or just wealthy men who can now afford hyper-sized versions of the toys they played with when they were boys. Tank brokers—yes, there is such a thing—estimate there are several hundred to 1,000 private tank owners in the U.S.

"But if they don't exist, how can a man see them?"
"You may think I'm pompous, but actually I'm pedantic... let me explain the difference."
"Carry the battle to them. Don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don't ever apologize for anything."

There was a miltary-decorun restaurant near here that had a Stuart tank out front. When I heard it was closing I seriously considered trying to buy it. Alas it was gone when I went by. It would have made a terrific hurricane shelter if nothing else and kept the neighbors at bay.

I don't know. Some of those checkouts are pretty narrow.

The tank can make them wider.

Never would be able to afford one but it would be great fun to take a test drive.

Those rounds might have a little overpenetration issue.

Are these legal in NY as long as you have 7 rounds or less on board?
