Interesting video never knew munitions could be made from fat. Growing up except boiled eggs never had an egg that was cooked in anything but bacon grease until I went into the Air Force.

    I miss the "old" cartoons...

I'm not old enough to have seen them when they were new, but at least they still ran them when I was young...

Some years ago there was (still there) a restaurant called the Lyman Cafe on the side of HY20 east of here. They had a cook who would pour off some bacon drippings into the sausage gravy. Who woulda' thought just a wee bit of bacon flavor could put some serious SNAP in an order of Biscuits and Gravy?? For a special treat I'd get 2 over easy on the same plate. Them were the good old days!

So how does one render the fat down into/or to make glycerin? That's a good thing to know.

I would say Google it. I am sure some "gun nut" out there has posted a video on You Tube.

I am a tad bit bit, older than most members and as a kid I was assigned the job to take all the saved bacon grease and " tin" cans to the local grocery store each week to support the war effort.

I doubt that you could get one in ten households to do that if we were at war today.

Better stock up on bacon before it's forbidden by Obamacare and Bloomberg. Sodas and salt now...bacon tomorrow.

Bacon grease is an essential ingredient in old time Southern cooking. I've watched my 99-year-old adopted grandmother (my deceased Granny's best friend) add it to many dishes. She's been cooking that way her entire life and I must admit it's pretty tasty.
