My Ex-wife
My ex-wife started taking flying lessons about the time our
divorce started (1995) and she got her license shortly before our
divorce was final, later that same year.
Yesterday afternoon, she narrowly escaped injury in the aircraft
she was piloting when she was forced to make an emergency landing in
Southern Tennessee because of bad weather. Thank God our kids were
with me at the Beach House this weekend.
The NTSB issued a preliminary report, citing pilot error:
Judy was flying a single engine aircraft in IFR (instrument
flight rating) conditions while only having obtained a VFR (visual
flight rating) rating.
The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient
fuel on board. No one on the ground was injured.
The photograph below was taken at the scene show the extent of
damage to her aircraft.
She was very lucky.

Just in case anyone wonders, I've been married to the same lovely lady for over 28 years. This was just too good to pass up.

Just saw this thread! ROFLMAO!
Awhile back I read a thread on another forum asking whether folks insure their firearms. I see that question a lot, and it always takes me back to an event that made me glad I did not! It's in line with George's post, so ..... enjoy the following cut-and-paste:
At one time, I had considered insuring my firearms. The insurance agent, though, wanted to send his "friend" over to inventory and determine values of my guns. I told him that wasn't necessary - that I could cataloge and provide values. He insisted. I thought that rather odd, and I asked him why. He said, "Well, he is just a friend of mine who knows a lot about guns." That made absolutely no sense to me, and in fact, it raised a bit of a red flag, so I just responded that I wouldn't be needing his coverage after all. He then retracted the requirement, but I still opted for a solid safe instead of coverage.
When divorce time came a few years ago, my wife mentioned that we'd "need to get into the gun safe to determine what needed to be addressed in the divorce decree." I smiled, went to the desk, took out the insurance rider for the 5-figures worth of diamond jewelry and furs I'd bought her, handed that to her, and said, "Okay. Well, I guess we'll need to address this too."
That ended the gun debate ... right there!

Do you know if her local FAA Flight Standards District Office is looking at her due to flying under IFR conditions and not being certificated in doing so?

srfl,
I'm not certain, but I suspect that the whole thing was just a joke;
- ex-wife
- flying
- photo of broom
= she's a witch
Probably the whole story is a setup, not just the photo of the broom.
Am I right?
I don't think the Fizdo cares about brooms yet...
