My Comments: Whoo, Hoo........ OK - Now I'm putting a bigger cow gard on the front of my truck for my next fishing trip up there. And you betch 'ya I'm going to be running the roads at night to try to bag some game with my truck!

Montana has become the first US state to allow drivers to cook and serve carrion picked up from road accidents under a 'you kill it, you grill it' law.

Lawmakers in the US state have overwhelmingly passed a bill allowing locals to salvage meat from the carcasses of wild animals killed in road accidents.

When signed into law by the governor, Montana could become "the ultimate drive-through destination for adventurous foodies", the website Huffington Post noted.

We've got a limited version in Tennessee..

    Roadkill Law

TCA 70-4-115 allows that, except for non-game and federally protected wildlife species, wild game animals accidentally killed by a motor vehicle may be possessed for personal use and consumption. However, possession of a deer killed by a motor vehicle is permitted only if the person notifies the TWRA or any law enforcement officer and supplies his/her name within 48 hours. A bear killed by a motor vehicle may be possessed only upon the issuance of a receipt from the TWRA.

We may not be able to get ammo anymore, but I suppose as long as we can still by a tank of gas we can go hunting.

With the damage caused by hitting a deer at least now you will get some return. I hit a deer with a Freightliner, I was lucky all it did was tear off a piece of the plastic bumper and damaged the water separator. My roommate on the other hand hit a deer with our other roommates Avalon $4500 damage.

Here is an example of geriatric deer hunting; they did not know they hit a deer until they stopped to eat.

Most of the local PD's in my area have a list of folks they call to come pick up the deer that get hit. Doesn't everybody?

Whenever I go to my son's preschool, I take a back road to get there. 70% of the time I see a big flock of wild turkey, and most of the time they're right there by the side of the road. Oh, how I wish one would walk out onto the pavement....

A bullet is so much cheaper to use.

When I lived in Alaska, roadkill/conficated game was served to the folks in the jail. Too often those who hit a moose didn't live to eat it.

In PA you are permitted to keep roadkilled deer as long as you notify the game commission,

Sounds like you need one of those hydraulic gizmos like the trash(er...waste management) trucks have on the front of them around here. Deer gets "taken" by the bull bars and then you flip it up and back into the bed of the truck.
