    Survival. At what cost?

So. Cap't. Smith, and Mr. Percy of Jamestown, have both told the story of cannibalism in the early times of our country.... Now, there's some proof...

What would you do to survive?

Well if you eat me at least use some salt even if you have high blood pressure. A cut of meat like me deserves to be properly seasoned.

Seriously there is no way to make such a decision without being placed in the situation. Those people likely had several hungry weeks to make a decision. I expect most any of us would eat to survive if faced with similar circumstances. It has happened before to many people that would have "never" done such a thing yet did it when faced with a live or die situation.

And let's look at it from another perspective (though I don't have the details on earlier episodes, so this may be FAR from what happened there): my job is to sacrificially provide for my family. I think I can do a better job of that alive than dead, but once I'm done with the body...

May God grant that we never be in such a situation.

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Meat is meat. Especially when you're starving.

I can't see myself doing that to a loved one. Maybe a stranger or somebody I didn't like very much though

I have read almost everything I can find on German prisoner of war camps and I have not found a case where those poor starving people ate their fallen comrads.

Not going to say never but there would be a lot of things I would do first.

What about the starving Donner Party & their 'long pork' 'Organic Cusine'? Trapped in the winter mountains & starving. Yeah, they ate the starving horses first.

What about the soccer or rugby team (I don't remember which) that crashed in the mountains?

From accounts I have read on the matter, the survivors likened the flavor to beef. Well, I just talked myself out of a hamburger now.
