That's really terrible. Being told you have cancer is a horrifying experience so try to be there for your friend as much as possible. Very sorry to hear for your friend!

Lost my girl friend to the after effects of cancer five years ago, seems like the cure can be worse than the disease.

I feel your pain and sorry to hear about your friend. You probably already know this, but if you want to help his family, don't ask what they need, just do something to help. Most people will decline if you ask how you can help, but will be grateful if you mowed the lawn, did their grocery shopping, made the family dinner,

My son went through six weeks of radiation treatments when he was three for a brain tumor. Neighbors would offer to help, and we would decline, not wanting to impose. But we were very grateful to come home from a week at the hospital to find someone mowed the grass, etc.

Just my $.03 (adjusted for inflation).

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Has your friend gotten a 2nd opinion? I've heard about a Cancer Treatment Center in Oklahoma that has had amazing results when other doctors have given up.
