Gays with Guns: A Growing Subculture? = Add them to voters who oppose the Antis-2As?

Real Title: Gays with Guns: A Growing Subculture?

........"Wrong," says Gwendolyn Patton of Pink Pistols, a group that advocates gun ownership for the LGBT community. With taglines like "pick on someone your own caliber," and "armed gays don’t get bashed," Patton says Pink Pistols changes the perception that gay people are easy victims.

"We teach queers to shoot, and then we teach the rest of the world we’ve done it," Patton told WBEZ91.5, a public radio station in Chicago. "Because then they may think twice about using (LGBT people) as a target."

Doug Krick, a libertarian activist from Illinois founded the Pink Pistols in July 2000 while living in Massachusetts. The organization now has 60 chapters in 33 states and three countries. The group’s activities include firing range visits, political activism and will occasionally produce report cards on politicians; rating them on their position on issues of interest to members. Other than that, little is known about the organization and it’s even difficult to know just how big the Pink Pistols movement is because the organization doesn’t keep a national count.

........Another aggressive pro-gun/pro-gay group, appropriately named GaysWithGuns.net, offers a free downloadable flyer with a picture of Matthew Shepard on it, which reads, "The notion that Matthew Shepard tied to a fence post in the middle of a freezing Wyoming night, tortured and beaten to death, is morally superior to Matthew Shepard explaining to the local sheriff how his attackers got all those bullet holes."

My Comments: As a Libertarian (with the dedicated slant towards conserative fiscial responsibility), I think that if we can hijack the Gay movement to disrupt the Progressive Left on Gun Control, GREAT! Afterall, most of the Gay movement's political slants are supporting the same forces/politicians that will see them as a real liability and will dismantle them first, when the Gay's help them (the Progressive Left) to win totol control (Hitler and Stalin were Progressive Leftists, no?). Too bad the Gay movement does not understand how they are being used, politically. But then again, any friend next to me to fight Anti-2A, today, is my current friend, but may not be so tomorrow........ Just sayin........... And, this is NOT a Gay Bashing Post!

My feeling is that any and all law abiding people who want to join the cause of saving the Second Amendment are welcome.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

    Do they have weapons too?

Seriously, I agree with JL. Also, I doubt a perp is going to question what the sexual orientation of the LAC is when the perp is staring down the muzzle of a loaded weapon.

I want freedom. Freedom to sleep with whom I choose, ingest what I please, spend what I earn, and defend myself at will. If my gay friends are on board, fantastic. I think it's a shame the 2A is considered a conservative movement when it's the poor, minorities, and those at the fringes--ie traditionally liberal--most likely in need of defending themselves. I hear some of the homophobia, racism, and plain crazy talk coming from some of my countrymen and I think "Yeah, I don't want to live in a world where only you guys are armed."

We (gun owners & 2A supporters) win by inclusion - not alienation. Unfortunately, it will take a long time before there is enough support in any single subculture to gain critical mass with Liberals. This doesn't mean you use that as an excuse not to support others who do not share all of your beliefs, but IMO look for reasons to get them to more actively and vocally support those shared beliefs.

Now, if we could just get those groups to join the NRA and vote Republican we would have a better chance of long-term protection of our 2A (and other Constitutional) rights.

Unfortunately Republican all too often equals "religious right." Not a group often associated with inclusion. We need a Libertarian candidate for socially liberal, fiscally conservative gun nuts like me :)

Not sure what the rules are on political talk, and I'm too lazy to check, so that'll be my last word on it.

This is a "mechanical" gun forum, keep it at that. You wanna flaunt something, flaunt your 1911 or whatever.

My friend is transgender and she's always armed. We go to the range and gun shows together. She's a deadly shot with her Walther.

I'd trust her with my life. She doesn't have many friends - but she is fiercely loyal to the ones she has.

Needless to say, she is very pro-2A.

(And for the poster above - just thought I'd let you know that both my friend and I are Republicans.......You shouldn't be so judgmental!)

Now that is funny. You admit you are too lazy to check the rules of the forum, but you have no problem voicing a "fact" that in reality is your opinion. I'll just assume you were too lazy to verify this fact.

The VAST majority of Republicans I know don't give a hoot about sexual preference. Just like Democrats, do not paint a picture of all members of a party based only on the opinions of a vocal few. I know a lot of people that vote Democratic that aren't quite accepting of alternative lifestyles!

But I acknowledge your point - the party members in DC are divided among social and fiscal lines (sort of, the Republicans are only adept at wasting money at a slower rate than the Democrats). That leaves many people with difficult choices, which is unfortunate.

I've sold to people who are straight, gay, or in the middle of a gender change Their money spends the same way no matter what. If or when they attempt to push their individual agenda on me, I'll speak my peice and stand based on my own individual merits. I just want to make sure the person whom I'm selling the handgun, rifle, or shotgun, has the common sense to know when they are legally justified to use it, should that time ever come.

I too do not care what people do with their genitalia, it is between them & God. Can I say that I have a right to defend myself & they not? NOPE!

With people of liberal lifestyles, being persecuted by those of Wrong intent, as they are, they understand our perspective of being ridiculed for our exercising our individual liberties.

Sexual preference is just that, sexual preference.I see no reason to inject it into every facet of life.
