We need to start a spoiler thread so those who have seen it can discuss without ruining it for those who have not.

Do you have anything to back that up? I thought it was just an internet rumor.

Being formerly from the U.K., I can honestly say that in my 35 years spent there, I never once met someone who could not drive a stick. 95 percent of cars there are sticks. If you don't pass your driving test in a stick, you get a restricted license, so EVERYONE knows how to drive a stick.

The only person I even heard of who could not drive a stick was some woman on a reality show about learning to drive who had failed her test multiple times. She finally passed in an auto (and got a restricted licence)

We didn't ruin anything for ya. Honestly, if I hadn't had the heads up, I would have missed him. It happens that quick and is probably only there so that Mr. Branson can say he was in the flick.

I started the spoiler thread, so fair warning, don't go in there, and we'll keep the tidbits out of here.

Well, it depends. Do you consider http://www.caranddriver.com/idealbb/...?topicID=75963 Car and Driver an internet legend monger? They have quite a bit on the line, so to speak, to go around spreading unverified rumors wouldn't you agree?

Well, you would think, but then being one of the pro-gun lobby, you would probably agree that the media is not known for checking out the facts. The exact same text in the car and driver story you posted appears in dozens of other articles, word for word, so who knows who the original author is.

And the following story, which claims the rumor to be bogus, also appears word for word in other articles.

So, with all those conflicting stories, all I can do is introduce what I know to be fact, and that is that it is extremely rare for a person raised in Britain not to be able to drive a stick. So, on the balance of probability, if I had to place a bet (keeping in line with the whole Casino Royale theme!) I would go with the second story.

I'm not saying you are flat out wrong, but the rumor had intrigued me from when I first heard it, and I wondered if there was some hard evidence out there one way or the other.

I guess I'm influenced by this guy's political and cinematic inclinations. He did a movie that involved him in a man to man liplock ("Brokeback" Bond?) and his politics put him far to the left of even the other lefty actors that have played 007. The actor is a DWEEB.

You're probably correct, but I'll wager that he's unable to handle an Aston Martin under real conditions at real speed.

Yet to see it but excited....seems to be a great 007----more in the style of connery.
