Not expected to brighten up any days but it's a good insight into how messed up the financial system is.

That's a really interesting report and no surprise at all. The housing debacle did a lot of damage and it makes me angry that innocent people have been brought down with it.

In addition to the greed of the Loan industry and Wall Street, I blame the greed of people who knew darn well they wouldn't be able to make the payments on a $700,000 house, but bought it anyway. Their personal irresponsibility is at the core of the meltdown. If they hadn't applied for loans they know they couldn't afford...the loan officers couldn't approve them.

Now a lot of people who bought houses in that time period (and could honestly qualify) can't sell because they are upside down on their mortgage...through no fault of their own.

It's greed all around and they should all be ashamed...but they aren't.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I know several people who've lost homes they should never have been able to buy,and several who "refinanced" and added in a little extra for a new car, etc., only to lose everything because they got loans they couldn't afford. I went thru hell to get my hone loan after retiring, yet those same folks above walked in and received a loan with little income record. My home isn't fancy or luxurious, but at least it's mine!

Why did politicians walk free? Do a little research on the Community Reinvestment Act before you form a conclusion. Here's a couple links to start you off but there are many more.

There's usually two sides to any story. Believe what you want.

Absolutely right. When it comes down to it, Wall Street and the financial industry did exactly what Congress pushed them to do.

Exactly right, the financial crisis lays at the feet of Senators Dodd and Frank.

I'd rather be lucky than good any day

There's nothing that will change someone's moral outlook quicker than cash in large sums.

Majority rule only works if you're also considering individual rights. Because you can't have five wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for supper.

The only thing the financial system needs is to be left alone, unmolested. Allow the market to correct itself and keep congress and any other politician critters out of it. Problem solved.
