Luckily, more moose were inconvenienced than people. Not much traffic around Wawa. It's beautiful, though; Old Woman Bay, Lake Superior Provincial Park, the source of the world's mosquitoes and black flies.

Why would Canadians be celebrating the Fourth of July?

If that semi had of been loaded with Indian fireworks the booms would have been way better. What pansy wants to be a kilometer away from a conflagration like this?

Actually Canada Day is only a few days off - July first.

My question: was the fellow riding the moose ok? I mean, that is the main mode of transport up north of the border, right?

No, only during the no-snow season, otherwise, dogsleds. I think we lose the snow in July this year, iirc.
