It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

That's because she thinks it's fun. Wait till she finds out it's work.

Enjoy the only thing better than parenting is grand parenting. Grandparenting doesn't give me more gray hair because they're all gray already.

tdave...ever seen the bumper sticker: "If I had known grandkids were so much fun, I'd have had them first".

Kids are soooo cute. My 3yo great nephew told his mother when he grew up he wanted to be just like her and be "nothing". Too funny.

My wife's friends think it's odd when we tell them our kids do chores. You make them clean? They take out the trash? They mow? Kind a sad state of affairs if you ask me.

At least being a grandparent, after you spoil them you can send them back home.

So true! My five year old still hasn't found out it's work and I'll be milking it until he hears about allowance.

@JL: Yep. I was thinking that very thought today as I watched her. She still thinks it's a "big people' thing so it's cool. I'm sure she'll figure it out soon enough.

my daughter was incredibly bright for her age.....she never thought house work was fun (she watched her mom complain about it too much) , and the word "allowance" came out of her lips right behind "dada".
