I remember seeing that commercial and I really like it too. I don't know why people still resist wearing seatbelts when they've been shown over and over to save lives.

A lot of thought went into that one!

My In-Laws just buried a relative who was thrown from his vehicle and killed when the truck landed on his head. That particular group of mountain folk consider seatbelts for sissies, and yes, alcohol was involved. I'd bet good money not one has put on a seatbelt since either. You can't save people from themselves.

I had an unusual reason for wearing it at all times my employer sponsored coverage paid additional if you died in an accident wearing your seat belt. Once it became habit why stop?

I used to be in the camp where seat belts were for wimps and were too much of a pain in the rear to use. Then my kids put a picture of them in my truck that said buckle up because we care. Now I wear one all the time and feel stupid because it took something like that to get me to wear one.

I spent 15 years riding an ambulance as an EMT... hard to say how many folks I've dug out of vehicles that should have died.... but their seat-belts saved 'em. Yes, there are exceptions, but there aren't many. Wear 'em...for those who care for you, if not for yourself.

I remember sitting next to my Mom in the the car when I was little (late 50's) before seatbelts were put into cars. Every time we'd come to a stop she'd throw her arm over my chest. She never got over doing that even when we were older and wearing seatbelts.

I strap my seat belt on before I even stick my keys in the ignition. It became a habit quite some years ago.

The like button wasn't appearing on this post. My mother and father still did this too all the way up until my teens.

90% of people in an auto accident and should have died but were wearing a seatbelt lived.

90% of people in an auto accident who should have died and were not wearing a seatbelt did.

    Pick your odds, folks.

I remember being a wee one and sitting on the front floorboard of the family car. I'm glad those days are long gone. My kids are in some serious car seats with five point harnesses and side impact protection. There are so many airbags in our minivan the interior is going to look like it was stuffed with giant pillows when they go off.

In grade school, I remember our school bus slowed down to pass the scene of an accident. It was one of my neighbors, and he veered and hit a tree. There was a giant hole in the windshield on the driver's side. That whole schoolbus full of screaming grade schoolers went dead quiet. No seatbelt. He died. First time I ever saw a black bodybag. Come to think of it, none of us were wearing seatbelts, either. How come the gov't makes everybody wear seatbelts and yet they don't install seatbelts in public school buses for our most precious cargo?

The only two people I can remember who would not wear seatbelts (other than my dead neighbor) was a classmate who said a friend died by being impaled on a fence that went through the windshield of the car he was in. My classmate's rationale was that if he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, he would've been thrown out of the way of the fence. The other was a cop who said the seatbelt always kept getting stuck on his gear and kept him from making a rapid exit. I wish them both luck.

I did two rolls from 70 MPH, got some scrapes on both hands and my passenger got a small scrape on his arm. We were both wearing seat belts. Firm believer in them.

I laid across under the back window of my parent's Duece-and-a-quarter on long trips, growing up.

Today, I'm on a motorcycle half the time.

Amen, Betty. I don't even have to wear a helmet in my state. None of it makes any sense.

I wear a seatbelt because my car has the most annoying, loud seatbelt alarm I've ever heard and I can't figure out how to disconnect it.

A seatbelt is like my carry gun, I would be very uncomfortable without it.
I carry a gun, because a Cop is too heavy.
