Follow up on Brian Holloway's House (NFL'er who got his house trashed)

I know you guys don't like Huff Post but this is a good open letter posted in the paper. It basically trashes the parents:
An Open Letter To The Parents Of The Stephentown 300 | Kelly Lynch

Instead of sitting little Johnny down and reminding him that what he did is not acceptable and then dragging him by the collar to apologize to Mr. Holloway, you chose instead to harass and threaten the victim. Let's not forget here, your child victimized this man by destroying his home. How dare you respond with anything other than regret, embarrassment, and a sincere apology instead of righteous indignation, threats of violence and lawsuits.
Parents like you are responsible for an entire generation that expects the world handed to them, because you have given it to them all along. Instead of teaching your kids to work hard and earn things, you give a trophy to every kid in youth sports and then hand them an iPhone in middle school. You are the parents screaming through the fence at the Little League umpire instead of teaching good sportsmanship. You are the ones criticizing the teacher instead of realizing they just want to help your child learn.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

    Isaiah 6:8

If I had done something like that when I was a kid, I would have been living in mortal fear of whatever my parents chose to dish out in the way of education. It just amazes me that these parents have this attitude. It's all part of our culture of entitlement.

Update to the Update - Parent's strike back.......... and some other issues.

The plot thickens in the story of ex-New England Patriots player Brian Holloway ... who went ballistic after his New York home was trashed by a horde of rowdy, drunken teen vandals. Turns out the house was already in disrepair and in FORECLOSURE, and his neighbors smell a rat.

TMZ has learned ... Holloway owes a whopping $1,006,348.80 on the house ... it appears he was delinquent on paying his mortgage and the bank then demanded payment of the entire balance.

Brian hasn't lived in the home for a long time -- he's in Florida -- and neighbors tell us they thought the house was abandoned.

......Neighbors think the kids who Brian is now attacking are getting a bad rap. ...... of Brian's motive in requesting financial help to pay for repairs on his PayPal account. They think he's trying to create sympathy so money floods in and he can save his house.

As for Brian ... he tells TMZ there was some preexisting damage, but the 300 hooligans really trashed his crib. He also says he's been trying to renegotiate with the bank for 2 years.

The clock is ticking -- the foreclosure sale is set for Oct. 29.

Of course this totally justifies the actions on these teenagers. After all the owner may have fallen on some hard time... He deserves to be victimized. What The house had been ampty for 6 months and was in some disrepair? That totally justifies trashing his property... How dare someone loose their home to the bank. That makes it totally OK to further trash his property. After all the bank will own it eventually. If he really cared about the property in that home he would have been living there.

The only thing the update-update does (if true) is make everybody look like idiots....then again, a reflection upon pro athletes, parents, and kids these days.....sad.

The fact that he still owes money for the house and that there was pre-existing damage means absolutely squat. They broke into his home - against the law. They vandalized the property - against the law. Those parents threatening law suits and violence should be given a serious lesson from inside a jail cell over a weekend. Parents like this deserve to be run out of town and/or tarred and feathered.

I agree that none of the details of the update-update change how wrong the kids were or the idiocy of the parents. I will say this though, I sure hope he isn't trying to pass off pre-existing damage as what was done by the teens.

Just covered on FOX News, 16 Arrests have been made by the Sheriffs departement. More expected. I'll try to find an article and post it here.

Edit Update. I did not hear the TV correctly (was doing the dishes when they mentioned it). Six arrested. Not 16.

Six people arrested for trashing NFL star Brian Holloway's house - including a friend of the pro athlete's son whom the family had taken in when he was homeless

........He said investigators have told him the number of people charged could end up in the hundreds as they work through the sheer volume of participants.

100% agree with both of you! I don't care what the circumstances are concerning Mr. Holloway. The facts are that teens broke in, did a lot of damage-intentionally and now are lying about it. I bet they'll indentify most of them because now that they've caught 6, they're going to tell who the others are.

At least 4 came forward and admitted their wrong doing, that's something at least.

If my daughters or son had participated in something like this...I'd be sick to my stomach.

Now that arrests are being made, it will be interesting to see how each kid tries to dodge responsibility by fingering another. "He did it, she did that, I just watched, etc..."

The fallout from the kids ratting each other out ought to be fun. The public shaming of all of them and the parents will be even better. Pay for the damages, some jail time, and a lot of community service.

At 25, I'm ashamed to say that I am at the forefront of the self-entitled generation. I am thankful everyday when I see stuff like that that I had my specific parents. Had I been at that party my dad would have me working completely around my school schedule to repair his house. I would scrubbing the graffiti off with a toothbrush. I am the first to admit that my first car was given to me, under the condition of me having a job to pay gas, insurance, etc... No job=no car. I had my first cell-phone at 15, with my job paying the bill every month. It sickens me to see that parents think it's OK to give kids everything. ///RANT COMPLETE///

On the note of relating to the story, I think the way that Holloway is handling the situation is fantastic, he is trying to turn a personal attack on his home into a way to guide and mentor those "300" towards a better life and keep them from going down a bad road...
