    Where have you been?

They have been back for about 10 years.

Ownership of the "Indian" name frequently changes hands, as it did in Jan.

Oh.... I thought this was about people in India owning motorcycles again.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reminds me of when I was a kid and for years mistook the Catholic congregation of our Parish communal response to the Priest's final prayer at Mass.

    Priest: "Savior of the world....."

Congregation: "Save Russia" (The Cold War era and all that)

Anyhow, because of all the Westerns on TV then and that the response was hard to understand with everyone saying it together, for my first 12 years I thought it went like this:

    Priest: "Savior of the world...."

    Congregation: "Sagebrush!"

So that's what I said with great piety.

    (Sorry, I'm way off-topic. Bye...)

Polaris bought the company to add as an adjunct to their Victory line. The old company went under trying to develop a motor as they always purchased the motors for their bikes (S&S I believe). The new Indian has an in house designed motor.

Yep! Indian has gone through at least six or seven incarnations since the original folded in 1953. It looks like Polaris may actually have a chance of making a go of it. I'm a pretty loyal HD guy, but the new Chief looks like a nice ride!

    No they are not back.
Someone else bought the name again and is trying to pass a legacy off as their own.
Indian died a long time ago, this company has to path back to it's roots.

I think they look super-nice too. Like Smitty901 said, there is no legacy there, just a new company that bought an old logo and started with a new bike (and then sold the company to Polaris). I love the classic styling.

I'm still sticking with my Harley though. 'Plenty of affordable aftermarket parts.

It is also American made, like Victory. Made in Spirit Lake Iowa. I am not getting one, I have a Victory now. But a nice looking bike. An the motor is getting great reviews.
