A heads up about gift cards

Apparently criminals have found a new way to steal from people using gift cards. With the holiday season on its way and all, just one more thing to look out for. I don't like gift cards anyway, I'd rather have hard cash, or an actual object. Happy Holidays everyone.

Thats one of the reasons I don't like gift cards. If you want to give me cash, then give me cash. Gift cards can usually only be used at a paticular store, If I don't like anything there the card is useless to me. So just give me the cash so I can use it anywhere.

We got the heads up on this a while back. some cards have a scratch off pin # on the back. If the scratch off is rubbed off, chances are teh card will be hi jacked on the net. We have a warning to not sell any cards with the pin visible. Not sure how other companies have their cards set up though.

I hate gift cards. My wife wanted me to go buy her brother a gift card for the New Albany Mall. This mall is ripping people off. I go to the counter to buy a $50 card and they were going to charge me $2 for a "convenience fee". I told them forget it and went back to my wife empty handed. From that day on we just give cash, which I told her to do in the first place.
My point is that it isn't just bad people stealing, it is the card issuers themselves! $2 convenience fee, yeah right. They already make enough money because most people don't use the cards and lose them.

This has been going on for a real long time, but in a different way. People can steal a bunch of gift cards, take them home, over even to the bathroom, and use this small hand held devise that copies the info of the card. Then the "bg" just calls the number that was on the card, and when theres money on one of them, copies that info onto a new card, and go use it in a store. Its very easy, that being said, i dont buy gift cars anymore :)

I always like those green gift cards with Franklin on them.
