I'm not sure when I moved to North Korea, but I sure as hell want to go back to the good old USA.

I'd have to read the context of all that but on the surface it sounds like a Socialist dream.

Fascism, specifically. Fascism subsumes the individual to the needs of the State.
The only acceptable long-term outcome is to find a cure. It's an actual solution, requiring forward-thinking efforts.

Until then, we're just arguing about who's heartlessly pushing who off of a cliff.

“We are doing a terrible disservice to this generation and the next if we only present them with one side of the argument and bombard them with ideas contrary to the American ideal."

A very very nice way of saying how I feel about it. Liberal left should not be allowed to teach or touch our children's minds. However Glyn is also wrong because it is not even a freaking argument......it brain washing instead of teaching. Glyn needs fired along with the teacher.

Are we going to have to ban all educational publications and text books written after 1980? Hire proof readers for all classroom material?

I am extremely pleased to report that, with help from friends and family, "we" have convinced my wife that public school is not the way to go with our son (who starts kindergarten) next year. We're attending several open houses over the next few weeks, and while I do not relish the prospect of buying a new car every year (which is what this is going to cost me), I am relieved that I will be paying for and therefore will have an opinion that will be listened to and will matter in his education outside the home. From what I experienced and from everything I've read recently, public schools are treating parents like an enemy, and are doing everything they can to indoctrinate our children and cut us out of the equation. It's really ironic, because what is missing in the worst school districts IS the parents, and appearently they want to export that nationwide.

The problem with most schools are either the parents are not involved, or they are adversarial with the teachers. At our school, the teachers and parents work as a team to teach our children. Parents are welcome in the class at ANY time, and ALL parents are required to volunteer for at least 15 hours per year, most do much more than that. The kids raise and lower the flag daily, properly fold and store the flag.

When you give the state the right to raise your children for you, things like that will happen. When the parents remain the parents and we assist the teachers, we will end up with well educated good kids.

And yes, this is a PUBLIC school.

And we have those from the right that are trying to push their religion into the classrooms. Neither is correct.

So happy to hear that. Have always said if I had children I'd rather them be ignorant than to let the government raise them. My parents got extra jobs (late 60's & early 70's) just to send my brother and I to private school. We finished up at public High School but already had the basics and moral background. Both my brother and I were blessed to have parents that did this IMO even thought I know all are not able too. The morals I learned along with the laws of the land (America) and the Bible were priceless. It was a Christian school.

Home school to me would be another good option. Am hearing from the news what core curriculum is teaching them, pretty darn scary. Each day things like this reminds me of what history teaches us about things Hitler did.

Sounds creepy. If we had followed that dictum the Queen would be opening congress annually and the NSA would be kneeling down to kiss her Royal buttocks.

Sounds a bit also like you can hear the faint marching sounds of SS boots in the background. Ugh! No thanks.
